Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday, April 22, said she would talk to President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. in private about ill feelings of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
In a video statement posted on her official Facebook page, Duterte acknowledged the First Lady's right to have bad feelings towards her, but clarified that the sentiments were unrelated to her mandate as a public official.
"Upang makausad tayo, iiwan na natin sa isang pribadong pag-uusap sa pagitan lamang namin ni Pangulong “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang mga susunod na hakbang," she continued.
The video statement was released days after the First Lady admitted in an interview that she holds a personal grudge against the vice president.
As per Araneta-Marcos, Duterte "crossed the line" when she laughed at the accusation that President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. was "bangag" or high on drugs during the Laban Kasama ang Bayan prayer rally in Davao City in January 2024.
The vice president, meanwhile, urged the public to shift focus on pressing national issues such as inflation; hunger; insufficient electric and water supplies; and rampant illegal drugs.
"Samantala, hindi pa rin natatapos ang banta ng kriminalidad, terorismo at insurhensiya sa ating bansa. Kini ang mga butang nga angay natong hatagan og pagtagad. [These are the things we should pay attention to.] Unahin natin ang Pilipinas," Duterte added.
