Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her support on a house bill that aims to subject all elected and appointed government officials, including the President, to random drug tests.
On Monday, Duterte's brother and Davao City Firsr District Representative Paolo Duterte filed the House Bill 10744 that seeks to require random drug testing to government officials.
VP Sara has expressed her willingness to undergo testing at a third-party laboratory. The proposed bill requires both incumbent government officials and candidates in upcoming elections to undergo hair follicle testing.
House Bill 10744 proposes to amend Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. It mandates that hair follicle testing be used for preliminary screenings, with urine drug tests reserved for confirmatory analysis.
However, Representative Duterte's proposed bill has faced criticism from the public and fellow lawmakers, who have raised concerns about a potential 'special agenda' behind its proposal.
