Another ten Filipino crewmen of the bulk carrier ship MV Transworld Navigator safely arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Tuesday night, July 2.
According to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), this is the second batch of the 27 Filipino seafarers set for repatriation after their vessel was recently attacked by the Houthi rebels while traversing the Red Sea.
The DMW said the government has provided necessary assistance for the affected Filipino seafarers.
"The repatriated seafarers received immediate assistance from the government and assured of sustained support, in coordination with their licensed manning agencies and the shipowner," the DMW said.
As tensions from the Houthi operations escalate, the DMW earlier said the government is moving to prevent its seafarers from operating on ships that pass through the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Among the alarming incidents are the seizure of the car carrier Galaxy Leader in November 2023 and attacks on the bulk carriers Tutor and Transworld Navigator, all of which had large numbers of Filipino crew members.
