1,500 personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Southern Police District (SPD) will be deployed to help ensure the safety and security of devotees during the Traslacion on January 9.
In a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, the send-off ceremony was held on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Southern Police District (SPD) in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
According to PBGen. Manuel Abrugena, District Director, the police's responsibility is to protect the millions of devotees who will participate in the procession.
He further stated that it is crucial for the police to ensure that the devotees feel safe and at ease while participating in the Traslacion.
The SPD personnel will specifically monitor the Quirino Grandstand, with some also joining the Traslacion procession up to Quiapo Church, while additional police will remain stationed along the route.
Meanwhile, the personnel scheduled for deployment will depart for Manila at 4:00 PM today, where they will remain on duty until January 10 or until all activities for Nazareno 2025 conclude.
The PNP previously announced that it will enforce extensive security measures to guarantee a safe, organized, and impactful event for the millions of devotees anticipated to take part in the procession.
