Gearing up for Traslacion 2025? Take note of these safety reminders from DOH, PH Red Cross

With the resumption of the country’s annual liturgical feast of Jesus Nazareno, several devotees are gearing up to brave the crowd on Thursday.

To ensure a safe celebration, the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Red Cross shared safety reminders and tips before and during the occasion.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the DOH told the public to consider the following reminders:

  • Do not ignore symptoms of dizziness and fatigue. If you or someone you know is experiencing the mentioned symptoms, look for the nearest DOH medical station
  • Call a DOH medical staff for assistance when feeling faint, nauseous, or in need of medical help
  • Follow the reminders given by local government units (LGUs) and organizers

In preparation, the DOH also reminded the attendees to bring or prepare the following:

  • Water
  • Comfortable clothing and footwear
  • Transparent raincoat in case it rains
  • A small first-aid kit containing face masks, sanitizer, and personal medicines

In contrast, the DOH warned the public of the following:

  • Pregnant women and those with children are advised to refrain from joining the activity
  • Bringing sharp objects and any tools that may cause harm is also prohibited
  • Attendees are advised not to climb onto the carriage or andas
  • People who have consumed alcohol are also discouraged from participating

Meanwhile, the Philippine Red Cross reminded attendees of what to bring, and how to stay safe during the event.

Attendees are encouraged to bring the following essentials:

  • Sun Protection

Participants are advised to bring a hat or towel to shield themselves from the sun during the day, especially in the afternoon.

  • Bring Food and Water

Pack lightweight snacks and enough water to stay hydrated and energized.

  • Carry a Medicine Kit

Bring medications for specific needs and basic first aid supplies.

  • Bring Only Enough Cash

Avoid bringing a large sum of money, keep the amount just enough for food or transportation.

Attendees are advised to refrain from bringing the following:

  • Do Not Bring Valuables

The public is discouraged from wearing jewelry or bringing valuables. The Philippine Red Cross advised the public to leave unnecessary items at home.

  • Do Not Bring Large Bags

To ensure mobility and reduce the risk of theft, attendees are discouraged from bringing bulky items.

The Philippine Red Cross also shared the following reminders during the event:

  • Keep a Safe Distance

Avoid areas that are densely packed, especially those near the andas

  • Take Note of Focal Places

Be aware of the locations of Red Cross stations, police, and volunteers.

  • Don’t Force Into the Crowd

If an area gets too dense, always find a safer spot to participate in

  • Ask for Help When Needed

Approach nearby volunteers or authorities if you’re feeling sick or unsafe.

  • Stay with Your Group

Stay with your group to avoid getting separated from the crowd.

  • Look for Red Cross Stations

Locate Red Cross stations along the route for first aid and other assistance.

Hospitals in the National Capital Region (NCR) were raised under “Code White Alert” for the Traslacion on Thursday, the DOH said. The hospitals in NCR, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON, will be ready to respond to emergencies at any time.
