DOST-PAGASA is monitoring two low pressure areas (LPAs), with one having entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Sunday.
As of 8 AM today, the weather bureau reported that the LPA inside the PAR is located 440 km east of Casiguran, Aurora, while the second LPA, which is outside the PAR, is situated 2,145 km east of Eastern Visayas.
PAGASA weather forecaster Anna Clauren-Jorda noted that the LPA currently within the PAR could bring moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days, particularly affecting the Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora areas.
"Hindi rin po natin nirurule-out ‘yung possibility na ito po ay maging isang bagyo," Clauren-Jorda said during an interview with DZRH for Isyung Pambayan.
Additionally, continuous heavy rainfall is still expected in the northern portion of Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Aklan, Antique, and Negros Occidental.
The public is advised to remain cautious as continuous rainfall caused by the southwest monsoon (habagat) is still possible today and in the coming days.
Meanwhile, in parts of the Bicol region and other areas including Visayas, Calabarzon, Metro Manila, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCKSARGEN, CARAGA, Northern Mindanao, as well as parts of Zambales and Bataan, the weather will be cloudy and overcast throughout the day with a high chance of rainfall still due to habagat.
In the remaining parts of Mindanao, as well as in Central and Northern Luzon, fair weather is expected. However, residents should still be prepared for the possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
