Quiapo Church confirmed on Tuesday that one of the two ropes pulling the andas of the Black Nazarene broke while the procession was turning at Arlegui Street earlier.
"Naputol ang lubid, as per report, bago lumiko sa Arlegui St. Corner Quezon Blvd.," the Quiapo Church said in a message to reporters.
Devotees immediately brought the rope back to the church.
According to the organizers, this is not the first time that the rope broke off while in the middle of the procession. While it does not have direct significance to the procession, Quiapo Church noted that this may affect the flow of Traslacion.
“May mga pagkakataon na naputol na rin ang lubid na humihila sa andas. Wala namang significance pero ang epekto nito ay ang pagmamando sa daloy ng ruta ng prusisyon," the organizers said.
However, they clarified that only a part of the rope broke off resulting in the andas to shorten.
