A total of 415 employees were arrested after authorities raided a scam hub operating in a private building in Parañaque City on Thursday, August 22.
In her report, RH Jecelle Ricafort, who gained access to the room where the scammers were operating, described the scene as chaotic. Employees were found covering themselves with blankets, surrounded by countless cellphones and computers displaying Chinese characters, all used in fraudulent activities.
According to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Brigadier General Melencio Nartates, the arrested individuals include Filipinos, Chinese, Malaysian, and Indonesian nationals.
Nartates revealed that the scam hub was involved in various illegal activities, including love scams, investment scams, identity theft, and other fraudulent operations.
It is suspected that some of these employees previously worked in illegal POGO hubs that were recently raided by authorities.
The scam hub had reportedly been in operation for less than a month.
Authorities are currently hunting the mastermind behind the operation, who is believed to be a Chinese national.
