Vice presidential candidate and Senate President Vicente Sotto III said there was never an alliance between Partido Reporma and the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC).

According to Sotto, an alliance never came up because their allies have their own alliances and commitments to other candidates, which made it difficult to have a single endorsement for presidency.

Sotto hails from the NPC, while Lacson was previously from Partido Reporma before he resigned and continues his presidential bid as an independent candidate.
