The leading e-wallet Gcash is now available overseas after it secured approval from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
On February 16, GCash announced that Filipinos in Japan, Australia, and Italy can download and use the application even without local subscriber identity module (SIM) cards.
"Good news, Kabayan! Kahit saang parte ng mundo, parang nasa Pinas ka lang with #GCashOverseas! You can now download the GCash app and register using your international SIM in Japan, Australia, and Italy," it said in a Facebook post.
Sending money, paying bills, and buying loads are all free of charge.
Filipinos abroad can use their passports or any valid government identification (ID) card for verification.
The offer is limited to the first 1,000 Filipinos in the three countries.
