The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has reminded local officials that public infrastructure, including barangay halls, are not allowed to carry election paraphernalia ahead of the May polls.
"Please do not put posters or tarpaulins sa mga public infrastructure," CSC Commissioner Aileen Lizada said in an interview with DZRH.
(Please do not put posters or tarpaulins in public infrastructure.)
Lizada reiterated the reminder as some officials put up campaign posters and tarpaulins of election candidates in barangay halls.
"Kasi ang ginagawa nila, 'yung mga barangay hall, ginagawa na nilang bahay nila, nilalagyan na ng tarpaulin. Hindi po pwede," she reminded.
(Because some are using barangay halls as their homes, where they put tarpaulins. That’s not allowed.)
She also directed the warning to local candidates, reminding them that government buildings are not their offices.
"And then 'yung iba pong LGU (local government units), nilalagyan po yung tarps sa mga buildings. Hindi po 'yan pwede, that is public office, hindi po 'yan opisina ninyo," she stated.
(And then in other LGUs, they place tarps on their buildings. That is not allowed, that is public office, not your office.)
According to the Commission on Elections' Resolution No. 10730, it is prohibited to post, display, or exhibit any election campaign or propaganda material outside authorized common poster areas, in public places, or in private properties without the consent of owners.
