Former Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson on Monday, April 8, issued a public apology after his convoy received apprehension for passing through the EDSA busway.
"I'm very sorry at hindi sinasadya dahil nag-overtake 'yung driver, hindi naman sa bus lane mismo ... Anyway, hindi dapat tularan," he said in a video statement posted on his official Facebook page.
Singson congratulated the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) enforcers who apprehended their convoy and vowed to give them ₱100,000 reward through MMDA chairman Don Artes.
The former Ilocos Sur governor explained that his black armored car has complete registration papers but has no plate number yet as this is still brand new.
"Gumagawa kasi kami, BMW o Baluarte Motor Works, ng bullet proof cars na bagong-bago kaya wala pang plaka. May mga papeles na pero hindi pa narehistro kasi tine-test pa. Marami pa kaming ginagawa na bullet proof ... Wala pang plate number pero maire-rehistro iyon," he said.
On Monday morning, the MMDA strike force stopped Singson's black armored car and companion car along EDSA Cubao Quezon City due to a bus lane violation.
The former Ilocos Sur governor reportedly paid a fine of Php5,000 for each vehicle.
