Oscar-winning Director Christopher Nolan will be back on set early next year to shoot the adaptation of Homer's epic poem, “The Odyssey,” Universal Pictures announced a day before Christmas.
The Odyssey is an epic poem composed by Homer during the Eighth Century BCE. Historians and scholars consider this to be one of the foundational texts in Western Literature. It tells the story of the King of Ithaca, Odysseus, who goes on his journey back home after the decade-long Trojan War.
On his journey, he encounters all kinds of mythical creatures like sorceresses, cyclops, gods, and others. During his absence, his wife Penelope and son Telemachus must face the handful of suitors who are seeking to gain Penelope's hand in marriage.
According to a post on X, Nolan's next film will be shot using the brand new IMAX film technology, bringing to life Homer's foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time.
"Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026," Universal Pictures captioned their post.
