Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will be releasing digital voter's ID for overseas voters adopting internet voting for the 2025 elections, COMELEC Chairman announced through a press statement on Monday.
The issued digital ID may be utilized for the purpose of enrollment in the pilot internet voting in the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE).
In the event that the Philippine Passport or Seafarer's Identification Record Book is not available, the digital voter's ID may be presented as an alternative government-issued valid ID.
This will be possible, provided that the overseas voter has an active registration record and has the intent to register for internet voting in the 2025 NLE.
Previously in 2018, the production and distribution of the physical voter’s ID was discontinued in pursuant to the Philippine Identification System or PhilSys.
Pre-registration for overseas voters who intends to participate in internet voting will be from February 12 to May 17, 2025, according to a COMELEC statement released on Monday.
