by Ellicia Del Mundo26 January 2023

The remains of Jullebee Calibis Ranara, the slain female Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Kuwait, will be brought home on Friday night, January 27.

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega confirmed this in a press briefing on Thursday.

He said they are already coordinating with the Kuwait authorities and Jullebee's employer who is the father of the alleged 17-year-old suspect.

The employer agreed to shoulder all the expenses in Ranara's repatriation, de Vega said.

"When you repatriate, the first source should be the employer. But often, they don't pay. In this case, obviously, the employer being the father of the suspect, have no problem. That was negotiated and worked out," he said.

On Sunday evening, January 22, Ranara's burnt corpse was discovered in the middle of the desert in Kuwait.

Her death was first reported by Kuwait media outlets.

According to Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Susan 'Toots' Ople, the family of Jullebee said she had been complaining that her employer's son had been making violent acts against her.
