The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced on Monday that it will launch a regular online job fair every other Friday of the month in a bid to combat the rising illegal recruitment and scams that victimize overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
In a press briefing, DMW Secretary Susan 'Toots' Ople said that the job fair will begin on July 7, Friday.
According to Ople, aspiring applicants will undergo a pre-interview to ensure that there will be no posers.
Meanwhile, DMW Asec. Levison Alcantara said applicants will also be required to pre-register and pre-submission of required documents.
Earlier on Monday, in line with the country's commemoration of 125th Philippine Independence, the migrant worker's department conducted an overseas mega jobs fair in Mandaluyong City where more than 2,000 applicants joined.
Among the job vacancies offered were nurses, welders, construction workers, laborers, waiters and waitresses, chefs, bakers, accountants, and seafarers.
