Doc Willie Ong shared his ‘good news update’ on his current condition on Tuesday, October 8.
In a Facebook post, the health advocate and cardiologist shared that his sarcoma shrunk by 60 percent in six weeks, indicating a dramatic reduction in the active cancer cells.
“Miracles Do Happen!” Ong wrote.
Ong recalled the moment when his colleagues found out about his diagnosis. “All the sad eyes and tears” surrounded him, as a 16cm large sarcoma spread throughout his blood vessels.
According to doctors, his condition is a hopeless and terminal case, as it is inoperable. Due to the gravity of his case, he flew to Singapore with the help of his brother and a patient of Doctor Ang Peng Tiam, a cancer specialist.
After six weeks of treatment, Ong said that the cancer had shrunk dramatically. The cardiologist considers it to be a miracle, as sarcoma is one of the hardest cancers to treat.
He thanked all those who prayed and sacrificed for him, including his Oncologist Dr. Ang Peng Tiam, and his team of doctors and health workers. Ong also thanked his family and relatives for their financial and emotional support.
However, he stressed that his battle with cancer is just half of the plan. According to Ong, the most important step is fixing the broken healthcare system in the country.
“With your help, we will improve healthcare in our country. And hopefully, make a dent at the widespread corruption plaguing our country,” Ong wrote in his caption.
