The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) should order the removal of the e-sabong feature in all e-wallet applications such as Gcash and PayMaya, according to Senator Francis Tolentino.
According to Tolentino, the said feature should be removed since President Rodrigo Duterte has already ordered to cease the e-sabong operations.
Following the order, the senator said there should not be any reason to keep the feature that can be found in the menu of e-wallet providers.
He also explained that the BSP's permission to allow the use of e-wallets in the betting for e-sabong is the primary reason why the said gambling application became a multi-million industry.
If the feature is removed in the payment service providers, Tolentino said no one will be able to bet using their phones so there will be no reason for them to go underground.
