MANILA, Philippines – The French Embassy extended its message of sympathy and support for the victims of super typhoon Kristine as it devastated a large portion of the country due to torrential rains and winds, causing landslides and massive floodings in some areas.

In a statement, the French Embassy expressed its “sympathies” to the victims’ families and loved ones, and to the Filipino people.

“The French Embassy is deeply saddened by the severe destruction and loss of lives caused by Typhoon Kristine in the Philippines,” the statement read.

“France assures the affected authorities and populations of its full solidarity in this ordeal. We extend our sympathies to the victims’ families and loved ones, and to the Filipino people,” the French Embassy added.

According to updates from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), there are 116 reported fatalities, ten of which are already validated by the agency; 109 were reported injured; and 39 still reported missing.

Overall, reports from the NDRMMC show that 1,662,416 families are still affected by the effects of Super Typhoon Kristine or 6,717,755 affected individuals.
