Tropical Storm "Leon" continues to hold its strength as it gradually slows down over the Philippine Sea, PAGASA reported early Monday.

In the weather bureau's bulletin issued at 5AM, Leon is located 840 km east of Central Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h, gustiness reaching 105 km/h, and a westward speed of 10 km/h.

Tropical Wind Signal No. 1 is in effect in the following areas:

  • eastern portion of mainland Cagayan
  • eastern portion of Isabela
  • northeastern portion of Catanduanes

Residents in these areas are cautioned about the potential impact of the winds, which pose a minimal to minor threat to life and property.

Leon is expected to continue moving westward for the next 12 hours before shifting to a west-northwest direction early morning tomorrow, October 29.

It is also anticipated to gradually strengthen over the next 24 hours and could reach the severe tropical storm category by this afternoon. Additionally, it may experience rapid intensification.
