Masungi Georeserve recently shared stunning images of the blooming Molave tree, a beautiful species that is currently listed as "endangered".

According to Masungi's social media post on Tuesday, July 4, the Molave tree (Vitex parviflora) thrives in Masungi's limestone ecosystem, showcasing its elegant lavender-colored flowers.

"With roots delving deep into limestone crevices, this flora species is known for its inherent strength and resilience," the post read.

Unfortunately, Masungi said the Molave tree is currently classified as an "endangered species" due to "over-harvesting and deforestation."

The National Museum of the Philippines has emphasized that forests located on limestone formations possess incredible plant diversity and endemism.

Preserving landscapes like Masungi not only protects their natural beauty but also safeguards biodiversity, including species that are unique to those areas.

Through their conservation efforts in Masungi and the surrounding watershed areas, Masungi aims to increase the population of the native Philippine Molave tree, which faces significant threats to its survival as a species.

The wildlife sanctuary also urged the public to join their cause and help #SaveMasungi.
