The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced on Thursday that over 12,000 unregistered vehicles were apprehended in July as part of their ongoing “No Registration, No Travel” policy.

In addition to the apprehensions, several private and public vehicles were also impounded during the intensive anti-colorum drive.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II emphasized that vehicle registration ensures roadworthiness, which is essential for public transportation.

He also commended the efforts of the Regional Directors and other LTO officials for their effective enforcement during the operations against unregistered vehicles.

“Magpapatuloy ang ating agresibong kampanya laban sa mga delinquent vehicle owners (We will continue the aggressive campaign against delinquent vehicle owners). I would like to remind our motorists that vehicle ownership comes with an obligation to register and renew the registration,” Assec Mendoza said.

The implementation of the policy aligns with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime J. Bautista's advocacy in ensuring the safety of all road users.

In the course of the operation, 11,521 apprehended vehicles were issued with traffic violations. Among those are listed as follows:

  • 1,478 private vans
  • 23 vans used for public transportation
  • 355 trucks
  • 95 SUVs
  • 69 public utility jeepneys
  • 8 buses used for public transportation
  • 7,459 motorcycles
  • 1,936 tricycles

An additional 1,531 vehicles were also impounded.

The LTO reported that the CALABARZON region saw the highest number of apprehended unregistered vehicles, with a total of 5,204 vehicles apprehended and 403 impounded. In July alone, officials in the region apprehended 223 vehicles and impounded 176 as part of their intensive anti-colorum drive.

As part of the campaign’s policy to protect legitimate operators and drivers, the LTO requires that owners of impounded vehicles present a court order before their vehicles can be released.
