The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is eyeing to implement the single ticketing system for traffic violations in Metro Manila in the first quarter of 2023, its Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo Tugade said on Tuesday.

During the Laging Handa briefing, Tugade said they are still conducting consultative meetings with various stakeholders to sort out the rules on the proposed ticketing system.

“We are just waiting for feedback po doon sa ating mga partners dito po sa programa,” he said.

The proposed single ticketing system aims to “harmonize” the penalties imposed by authorized agencies on erring drivers.

LTO earlier said the system will unify the penalties for the following violations: disregarding traffic signs, illegal parking (attended and unattended), reckless driving, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle, overspeeding, illegal counterflow, number coding violations, and obstruction.

Tugade said drivers will also receive demerit points in the LTO system along with the imposed penalties.

"Ma-monitor po natin ang performance ng ating mga drivers via a common demerit points system,” he said.

Once implemented, Tugade assured that the single ticketing system will improve the traffic condition for it will remove “irresponsible drivers.”

"Mas mababantayan natin ng maigi. We will make sure na iyong pribilehiyo to drive po ay ibibigay lang po natin doon sa mga karapat-dapat at saka mga responsableng drivers,” he added.
