The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced on Thursday, June 13, that power costs will increase by P0.64 per kilowatt-hour in June.
The sum has been split into three months, with the remaining part being credited to the July–September billing.
Meralco said the cost of power increased due to higher taxes, feed-in tariff allowance, and transmission prices.
This means households consuming 200 to 500 kWh should expect the following increase in their next electricity bills:
- 200 kWh - P128
- 300 kWh - P192
- 400 kWh - P256
- 500 kWh - P320

Meralco had suggested a staggered three-month collection of the generation costs starting in June to lessen the load on the consumers.
