The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) began the implementation of a Single Ticketing System (STS) in seven cities in Metro Manila on Tuesday, May 2.
In an update, MMDA said the STS is now in effect in San Juan, Muntinlupa, Quezon City, Valenzuela, Paranaque, Manila, and Caloocan.
Meanwhile, interviewed during DZRH's Damdaming Bayan, San Juan City Mayor, and concurrent Metro Manila Council (MMC) President Francis Zamora said the seven areas are "pilot cities".
He said the issues and concerns that will arise during the test run in the pilot cities would serve as a guide for them before integrating the system in the remaining Metro cities.

The MMC President explained that under STS, the license of an erring motorist will not be confiscated. Still, a ticket that contains their violation and the corresponding fine will be issued.
He said those who will be apprehended could pay the penalty fines virtually via digital platforms and online banking or pay directly to the traffic enforcer through their hand-held device.
"Once lumabas doon sa hand-held device na bayad na kayo, cleared na ang inyong violation," Zamore said.
"Pero kung kayo ay nahuli, halimbawa, bukas sa ibang lungsod at nakita na hindi pa bayad sa inyong multa ay pwede nang kumpisakahin ang inyong lisensya, lalong-lalo na kung tumatagal na hindi kayo nagbabayad for many months," The MMC President noted.
Last February, the Metro Manila Council (MMC) formally approved MMDA Resolution 23-02 which proposed the enforcement of a single ticketing system in NCR.
