The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League slapped an indefinite suspension against Germy Mahinay of the Negros Muscovados.
The indefinite suspension stemmed from the actions of Mahinay during the fourth quarter of the game between the Muscovados and the Zamboanga Master Sardines last April 22 at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan City, Laguna.
During the game, Mahinay earned a flagrant foul penalty 2, and an automatic ejection after he undercut Joey Barcuma of the Master Sardines in mid-air, which caused the latter to fall to the floor.
In a statement, the MPBL called the actions of Mahinay 'deplorable'.
"This outcome takes into account the dangerous nature of the play as well as Mahinay's reaction immediately after the deplorable act," MPBL said on Wednesday, April 25, in a statement.
Aside from the indefinite suspension, Mahinay must also pay a fine of Php 100,000.
