The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has heightened its security across Metro Manila following the bombing incidents in South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat last week.
NCRPO chief Police Major General Felipe Natividad ordered "stringent security implementation and police visibility" around Metro Manila to ensure that a similar incident would not happen in the region.
According to the NCRPO, this is because Metro Manila, a highly-populated area in the country, is a possible target for terrorist attacks and bombings.
"All acts of terrorism against people of any religion, race or creed, are crimes against humanity. And are always a threat to any nation's security," said Natividad in a statement.
"In regards to this, we will be utilizing all of our resources in NCRPO to the maximum and heightened efforts to ensure safety and security of each and every resident of Metro Manila."
The NCRPO chief, however, called for calm and urged the public to report suspicious individuals or behavior in their neighborhoods.
"I call on the public not to be alarmed nor should to panic instead remain calm and vigilant. I also encourage everyone to be highly alert and report any suspicious person or behavior, report any unfamiliar face in the neighborhood to the barangay or nearest police station," he said in a statement.
