A total of 36,658 families or 172,928 individuals in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas were affected by the massive oil spill from the sunken oil tanker, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday.

In its situational report, NDRRMC said of these numbers, 27,696 families persons are from Calabarzon, 27,696 from Mimaropa, and 7,195 are from Western Visayas.

At least 206 persons from Mimaropa were reportedly injured.

The NDRRMC likewise reported that 13,654 farmers and fisherfolk were affected and a production loss of 119 metric tons (MT) with an estimated Php 3,850,500 worth of damage.

It said that assistance in form of food and cash worth Php 142,964, 263 was distributed to the affected individuals.

The oil tanker MT Princess Empress which carried 800,000 liters of industrial fuel oil submerged last February 28 due to engine overheating.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) earlier reported that the oil spill has reached Antique, Palawan, Calapan City, and it has spread as far as Verde Island in Batangas.
