About 1,344 families have been affected by the severe tropical storm Florita, according to the recent report of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Wednesday.

In its 8 am situational report, NDRRMC said 4,646 individuals in 60 barangays in Region 1 - Ilocos, Region 2 - Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) were displaced.

It said that there were about 311 families or 956 persons sheltered inside the 19 evacuation centers. While 154 families or 573 individuals sought temporary homes with their relatives and friends.

A total of 290 families or 1,013 individuals in Ilocos and Cordillera were preemptively evacuated.

As of Aug. 24, there were no reported casualties — dead, missing, or injured yet.

Food packs and non-food assistance worth Php 915,176 was distributed to displaced families.

A total of 37 incidents occurred in some areas in Ilocos and Bicol. The breakdown of the incidents are as follows: 5 rain-induced landslides, 30 floods, 1 fallen tree, and 1 vehicle accident.

While a total of seven roads and bridges in Ilocos, Cagayan, Bicol and Cordillera are not yet passable.

About 13 cities/municipalities among the said provinces experienced power interruption and of which, 5 cities cities/municipalities were already restored.

Only one area in Ilocos is still experiencing communication line outages.

Over 275 cities/municipalities and 98 cities/municipalities has suspended classes and work respectively.

As of 11 am, PAGASA weather bulletin reported that Tropical storm Florita left the Philippine Area of Responsibility but some areas in Luzon will continue to experience strong winds and heavy rains.
