The National Press Club (NPC) of the Philippines vehemently denied that a certain Michael Yang is linked with the organization, contrary to what former Customs intelligence officer Jimmy Guban said in the quad-committee hearing of the House of Representatives.

"This is to certify that MR. MICHAEL YANG is NOT a member of the National Press Club (NPC) nor affiliated, in anyway with, the organization," NPC president Leonel Abasola said in an official letter signed on Friday.

NPC mentioned that its executive officers and directors have accepted the offer of Mr. Benny Antiporda to take a leave of absence as the club's vice president.

Antiporda was also mentioned by Guban in his statement during the congressional hearing and is now preparing to address each allegation made against him 'point by point', as per NPC.

"The NPC, as one of the oldest media organizations in the country, joins the quest for truth and calls for a resolution based on facts and without bias," NPC said in their statement on Saturday.

Previously, Guban identified Paolo Duterte, Atty. Mans Carpio, and former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang as key figures involved in the 2018 seized shabu shipment.
