The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMC) reported on Friday that the number of individuals affected by the Mayon Volcano’s unrest in Albay province has reached more than 38,000.

Of these numbers, 5,125 families or 18,584 individuals were displaced and are presently staying inside 27 evacuation centers.

About 471 families or 1,683 persons were staying with their friends and family relatives.

The NDRRMC also said that 330 animals or livestock have been evacuated.

At least 70,825 food and non-food assistance worth ₱57,639,283 have been distributed, and funds worth ₱1,685,248,066 are on standby.

President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. earlier assured that the government has sufficient funds to sustain assistance for Mayon evacuees.

Meanwhile, in an update, the Albay Provincial Information Office (PIO) said personnel from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have conducted humanitarian operations and brought 60 sets of solar-powered water filtration machines to provide a stable supply of drinking water for Albayanos.

The water for the said machines will be supplied by the two fire trucks deployed by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

“The water the BFP will provide will pass through the MMDA filtration machines in order to provide steady supply of drinking water for the evacuees,” it said.
