World No. 2 Pole Vaulter EJ Obiena remains in contention for a medal in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
Obiena cleared 5.75 meters on Saturday, August 3 (Paris Time), in order to secure one of the 12 spots in the finals of the men's pole vault event.
The Filipino pole vaulter almost crashed out of the competition after failing to clear 5.60 meters in his first two attempts but he managed to jump above the 5.70 meters mark in order to remain alive in the Paris Games.
Obiena finished at seventh place.
