P9.7M worth assistance given to Betty-hit regions, says NDRRMC

The National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Friday that the national government had provided ₱9.7 million worth of assistance and other relief goods to the six regions that were affected by Typhoon Betty.

In its latest situational report, NDRRMC said a total of ₱9,747,456 million in the form of relief were provided to residents of Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) who were severely impacted by the typhoon.

Food and non-food goods such as laminating sacks, modular tents, butane canisters, portable stoves, gasoline, sleeping kits, and hygiene kits were included in the said amount.

NDRRMC stated that a total of 21,586 families, which is equivalent to 77,801 persons living in 294 barangay in the regions were affected by Typhoon Betty.

At least 678 families or 2,187 persons are being sheltered in 42 different evacuation centers, while the remaining families were either being helped outside, have returned home as of this time, or seeking shelter with their relatives and friends.

About 86 houses were reported damaged in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, CAR, and Western Visayas.

Of these, 78 of the houses were partially damaged and eight houses were totally damaged.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), typhoon Betty exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon, heading north-northeast.
