President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has announced the suspension of government work and classes in all levels in public schools in Metro Manila and nearby areas starting Tuesday, August 23 until Wednesday, August 24 due to bad weather caused by Severe Tropical Storm Florita.

In an advisory, the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) said the suspension of work in government offices and classes in public schools takes effect on Tuesday at 1:00 PM.

It covers Metro Manila, and nearby provinces such as Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Zambales, and Bataan.

"The heavy rains pose possible risks to the general public based on the recommendations of the Office of Civil Defense," the OPS said.
