President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is keeping an eye on the provision of emergency supplies to flood-affected communities in the Visayas and Mindanao, according to Malacañang on Tuesday.
To gather information on the areas affected by the shearline's flood waters, the President held talks at Malacañang Palace with concerned government officials, said Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil, officer-in-charge of the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS).
On Sunday, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) conducted relief operations in villages affected by the flooding in Visayas and Mindanao, upon Marcos' directive.
As of Monday, around 5,487 families or 69,323 individuals in 98 villages were affected by the massive flooding in Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga caused by heavy rainfall, according to the DSWD data.
A total of 45,813 people, or 9,409 impacted households, were housed in 34 evacuation facilities in Northern Mindanao and Caraga.
There were apparently 118 households temporarily residing in the region with their respective relatives.
According to a weather bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, the shear line will bring moderate to heavy rains, with at times intense rains, over Southern Palawan, Eastern Visayas, Bohol, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao in the upcoming 24 hours (PAGASA).
The rest of Palawan, Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula are expected to see moderate to heavy rains.
