Justice Secretary Crispin 'Boying' Remulla on Thursday revealed that he recently underwent heart bypass surgery during his 10 days wellness leave, but said he won't resign from position despite his health condition.
In a press conference, Remulla shared that clogs were discovered in his heart during his medical check-up.
"A procedure happened and sympre, as usual, I went through the process, na-intubate ako. After that, 16 hours or 17 hours tinagal 'yung intubation and then, okay naman, my recovery is very good," he said.
The DOJ chief said he is presently doing physical theraphy.
Remulla said he is “technically back to work" but has to remain cautious and be mindful as he recently gone out of surgery.
He said that he communicated his health condition to President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. via text messages.
"He's [Marcos] very happy that I made the decisions that I did, to go through with the procedure and to come out of it very well. I thanked the President for the trust and confidence given to me," the DOJ chief said.
He added that Marcos also told him to prioritize his health and well being first.
Remulla said that resignation is "never" on the table.
"I serve at the pleasure at the President. I willl continue to discharge my functions as long as the President believes in my capability to lead the department," he said.
