The number of reported fatalities due to the recent severe tropical storm Kristine has risen to 125. According to the latest report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, 14 of these deaths have been validated, while 28 individuals remain missing.
Furthermore, over 7.1 million individuals have been affected by the recent onslaught of the tropical cyclone, with the largest number of affected residents located in the Bicol Region.
In Batangas, several days after the onslaught of STS Kristine, clearing and relief operations are still ongoing. More than 27,000 families, or nearly 100,000 individuals, have been affected by the storm in the province.
Meanwhile, in the province of Albay, the NDRRMC and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) have issued a warning regarding the expected heavy rains brought by Typhoon Leon.
The Philippine National Police (PNP), in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other emergency services, is also preparing to assist Local Government Units (LGUs) in setting up evacuation centers.
In the latest weather bulletin issued by PAGASA, Typhoon Leon has intensified and tropical cyclone wind signals 1 and 2 have been raised in various areas of Luzon.
