The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) prohibits people from entering the four-kilometer radius permanent danger zone around Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon.

PHIVOLCS has placed Mt. Bulusan under Alert Level 1 after the phreatic eruption of the volcano last Sunday, June 5.

As of Monday, June 6, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that the phreatic eruption affected at least 1,850 families or around 9,252 individuals.

DSWD said that 75 families or around 278 individuals have been staying inside evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) seeks assistance for the families affected by the phreatic eruption of Mt. Bulusan, and the resulting ashfall.

Fr. George Fajardo, director of Caritas Sorsogon, said that the evacuated residents need beddings, masks, food packs, bottled waters, and respiratory medicines.
