Cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms are expected across different regions in the country brought by a low pressure area (LPA) and southwest monsoon or ‘habagat’, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that as of 3 AM, the LPA was last detected 440 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar which in turn triggers the southwest monsoon to affect the western section of Luzon.

Badrina mentioned that the chance of the LPA developing into a storm is still low.

"Batay sa pinakahuling datos ay maliit ang tyansa na ito'y maging bagyo ngunit patuloy pa rin itong imomonitor," Badrina mentioned during an interview with DZRH.

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, and Quezon areas.

Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan will be experiencing scattered rains and thunderstorms as well brought by the southwest monsoon.

In Metro Manila and other areas in the country, isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected, primarily in the afternoon and evening.

Aside from the LPA, no other typhoons or LPAs outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) were monitored.
