Senate President Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III on Wednesday refuted the remark made by Vice President Leni Robredo against his running mate, presidential aspirant Ping Lacson.
Robredo, in an interview with talk show host Boy Abunda, was asked about why shouldn't Filipinos vote for Lacson.
"Maraming salita pero kulang sa on-the-ground na gawa (He says a lot be he lacks on-the-ground work.)," she responded.
In a tweet, Sotto pointed out Lacson's achievements during the latter's stint as the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and his role in fighting corruption in the Senate.
"Yun palang pinatino ang PNP, nilabanan ang korapsyon sa pera ng bayan at 18 taon na maraming mahalagang batas na inakda ay walang ginawa! Aba, bago yun ah!" he wrote.
"[Yung] author ng national ID system, anti-terror law at napakaraming iba pang batas aside from removing oversized pork barrels in the budget, the criteria of walang nagawa?” Sotto also said.
Earlier to this, Lacson himself responded to Robredo's claim saying, "Hindi ako kulang sa 'on the ground.' Hindi lang talaga ako ma-epal tuwing magbibigay ng tulong sa mga kalamidad man o sa mga indibidwal na tulong."
Sotto is running for vice presidency alongside presidential aspirant Lacson.
