Typhoon Nika further intensifies as it approaches the boundary of Isabela and Aurora, PAGASA reported early Monday.
In its 8 AM weather bulletin, the weather bureau reported that Typhoon Nika is currently over the coastal waters of Dinalungan, Aurora.
It has maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h, gusts reaching up to 180 km/h, and a west-northwestward movement at 15 km/h.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 4 is hoisted in the following areas:
- northernmost portion of Aurora
- central and southern portions of Isabela
- Kalinga
- Mountain Province
- northern portion of Ifugao
- central and southern portions of Abra
- northern and central portions of Ilocos Sur
Furthermore, TCWS No.3 is in effect in these areas:
- central portion of Aurora
- the northern portion of Quirino
- northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya
- the rest of Isabela
- southwestern portion of Cagayan
- the rest of Abra
- the rest of Ifugao
- the northern portion of Benguet
- southern portion of Ilocos Norte
- the rest of Ilocos Sur
TCWS No. 2 is raised in the following areas:
- northwestern and eastern portions of Cagayan
- the rest of Nueva Vizcaya
- the rest of Quirino
- the rest of Apayao
- the rest of Benguet
- the rest of Ilocos Norte
- La Union
- the northeastern portion of Pangasinan
- central portion of Aurora
- the northern portion of Nueva Ecija
TCWS No. 1 is in effect in the following areas:
- Babuyan Islands
- the rest of mainland Cagayan
- the rest of Pangasinan
- the rest of Aurora
- the rest of Nueva Ecija
- Bulacan
- Pampanga
- Tarlac
- the northern and central portions of Zambales
- Metro Manila
- Rizal
- the eastern portion of Laguna
- the northern and eastern portions of Quezon including Pollilo Islands
- the northwestern portion of Camarines Norte
A moderate to high risk of storm surge is expected within 48 hours in low-lying and exposed coastal areas of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Cagayan (including the Babuyan Islands), Isabela, Zambales, Aurora, Quezon (including the Polillo Islands), Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.
Typhoon Nika is expected to move generally west-northwestward until Thursday, November 14, before shifting to a southwestward track starting Friday, November 15.
According to the track forecast, Typhoon Nika may make its landfall over Isabela or northern Aurora this morning.
Nika will continue moving west-northwestward over the West Philippine Sea and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by tomorrow, November 12, either in the morning or afternoon.
The next tropical cyclone bulletin will be released at 11:00 AM today.
