The University of the Philippines and De La Salle University already secured their spots in the Final Four of UAAP Season 87 Men’s Basketball.
The UP Fighting Maroons secured a decisive victory over the Adamson Soaring Falcons on Sunday, finishing the game at 70-59.
JD Cagulangan led the charge for the Fighting Maroons with 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Gani Stevens contributed with 10 points.
During the fourth quarter, the game escalated as the score between the two teams narrowed to 58-57.
With nearly three minutes left in the game, UP began scoring with Mark Belmonte, taking advantage of errors from the Falcons to secure their spot in the semifinals. UP currently holds an 8-1 record.
Meanwhile, De La Salle University, currently in the top spot, continued their impressive performance in the tournament by securing a semifinals slot with an impressive 10-1 record.
Reigning MVP Kevin Quiambao set a new career-high with 33 points in the match against Ateneo de Manila University on Saturday, where his team emerged victorious with a final score of 80-65.
Josh David and EJ Gollena also contributed to the team with 9 points each, while Mike Phillips showcased strong defense, recording 13 rebounds.
