Sacramento Kings assistant coach Jimmy Alapag congratulated Marcio Lassiter for setting a new record in the PBA for most number of three point baskets made.
"A well deserved honor that speaks volumes of your work ethic, preparation , and consistency thru the years," said Alapag on Monday, September 16, in an Instagram post.
"It’s been great to watch your growth from our time together with Gilas 1 to a now 10x PBA Champion," added the six-time PBA champion.
Alapag, who formerly held the said record, made 1,250 three-point baskets before he retired from playing in the PBA in 2016.
Lassiter surpassed the record of Alapag during the 131-82 victory of the San Miguel Beermen against the Brgy. Ginebra last Sunday, September 15, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
Alapag said that he wanted to witness that record breaking moment in person and congratulate the new-three point king of the PBA.
"Continue to raise the bar for the next generation of PBA players who now have a new record to chase after!! Continued blessings on the rest of your career," Alapag challenged Lassiter.
After burying six three-pointers during the game last Sunday, Lassiter knocked down 1,254 baskets from downtown since his PBA career started in 2012.
