San Miguel Beer once again rules the All-Filipino Conference of the PBA.
The Beermen became the champions of the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup after defeating TNT Tropang Giga, 119-97, on Sunday, September 4, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
CJ Perez scored 25 points while Final Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo finished with 19 points and 18 rebounds for San Miguel to emerge in the final match of the best-of-seven series.
After trailing behind by 13 points, 65-52, Tropang Giga rallied in the third quarter, and grabbed a five-point lead, 89-84, going into the final period.
However, the Beermen unleashed a 15-point run to start the fourth quarter, and regain the lead, 101-89.
Charities by Jayson Castro allowed TNT to stop the bleeding but the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup champions cannot close the gap, and only scored eight points in the final quarter.
Castro registered 32 points and 10 rebounds while Mikey Williams added 22 points as they paced Tropang Giga that trailed behind by 25 points, 119-94, at most.
