TNT Tropang Giga takes a 2-0 lead in the 2024 PBA Governors Cup Finals.
The Tropang Giga won against Brgy. Ginebra, 96-84, on Wednesday, October 30, in Game Two of the best-of-seven series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson finished with 37 markers and 13 boards while both Glen Glen Khobuntin and Calvin Oftana chipped in 13 points each for the victory of TNT.
Tropang Giga seized the win even after falling behind, 21-11, in the first quarter.
The defending PBA Governors Cup champions finally grabbed the lead, 30-25, in the second period but Ginebra remained hot on their trail.
Back-to-baskets by Stephen Holt and a triple from RJ Abarrientos allowed the Gin Kings to regain control of the game, 57-51, in the third quarter
However, Pogoy started a 10-point run for TNT to once again go up, 61-57.
Before the start of the final quarter, Tropang Giga still had a one-point lead over the Gin Kings, 72-71.
RHJ, the reigning best import of PBA Governors Cup, made the three-point basket that widened the difference to double digits, 91-81, in the final minutes of the game.
Justin Brownlee scored 19 points and Scottie Thompson added 18 points to pace the Gin Kings that trailed behind by 12 points at most.
Tropang Giga and Ginebra will face one another anew on Game Three on Friday, November 1, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
